Job Description
The Maintenance Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides technical expertise, guidance, and support for maintenance operations, ensuring best practices, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. This role is responsible for optimizing maintenance processes, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, and mentoring maintenance personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Expertise & Support
- Act as the go‑to expert for maintenance‑related technical challenges.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem‑solving for equipment failures.
- Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance strategies.
- Process Optimization
- Analyze maintenance processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and cost‑effectiveness.
- Recommend and implement best practices based on industry standards.
- Evaluate and improve spare parts inventory management.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure maintenance operations comply with safety regulations (OSHA, ISO 45001) and industry standards.
- Develop and enforce maintenance procedures aligned with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and 55001.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
- Training & Mentorship
- Provide technical training to maintenance teams and junior engineers.
- Develop training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Mentor technicians in troubleshooting and equipment optimization techniques.
- Reliability Engineering & Continuous Improvement
- Utilize reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM) and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Implement condition‑based maintenance (CBM) and predictive maintenance techniques.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve equipment design and maintainability.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze maintenance KPIs (MTTR, MTBF, OEE) to drive improvements.
- Generate reports on equipment reliability and maintenance performance.
- Recommend capital investments for long‑term reliability improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Maintenance Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of experience in maintenance, reliability, or asset management.
- Experience in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or industrial facilities.
- Expertise in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Strong knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound, oil analysis).
- Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting
, electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics. - Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and Six Sigma principles.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and training abilities.
- Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, production, and safety teams.
- Industrial or manufacturing facility setting.
- Hands‑on involvement with maintenance teams and equipment.
- Occasional travel for audits, training, and best practice implementations.
