The E‑Space Manufacturing Solar Team builds the world’s most advanced aerospace products.
The Senior Technician will rely on superb hands‑on mechanical and electrical ability to diagnose and repair electro‑mechanical components of thin‑film semiconductor equipment. The role involves modification, installation, and rebuild of critical components for vacuum equipment, including valves, actuators, motors, pumps, sensors, and power supplies. Skillful use of power and hand tools is required, in addition to electrical test ability using volt‑ohm‑amp meters, and the ability to read schematics and understand technical documentation.
This is a full‑time, exempt position based in Arlington, TX. The role requires a willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed, with occasional travel.
What you’ll be doing- Follow written or verbal instruction for careful modification, replacement, or installation of critical electrical and mechanical components on complex equipment.
- Disassemble and diagnose failed components, and when necessary, make decisions to “repair vs. replace.”
- Diagnose causes of failure and decide on actions to repair.
- Rebuild and install deposition sources that include complex mechanical parts, specialty materials, and electrical connections.
- Diagnose problems based on close examination of mechanical assemblies, process characteristics, and software diagnostics.
- Measure voltages, currents, or resistances as required to identify component problems.
- Support scale‑up from lab or pilot systems to high‑volume roll‑to‑roll production.
- Support performance improvement initiatives targeting efficiency, yield, reliability, and reproducibility.
- BS in Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or significant relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in repair and replacement of electrical and mechanical components.
- Analytical mind with strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability for complex equipment.
- Skillful hands‑on ability with hand tools, power tools, and electrical measuring instruments.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a multidisciplinary manufacturing and R&D environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical maintenance and assembly instructions, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience working with hardware in systems run under PLC control.
- Familiarity with machine shop equipment and operations.
- Understanding of motor control systems, gear heads, and drive systems.
- Skilled with documentation using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Skills with mechanical and electrical design software such as Solid Works or AutoCAD Electrical.
