Job DescriptionRamboll’s Data Center Facilities team (formerly EYP Mission Critical Facilities) is a pioneer and leader in Data Center Strategy, Planning, Design, Integration, Commissioning and Testing. We provide a broad set of services for enterprise, institutional, web‑scale, service provider, and colocation companies.
As a Project Engineer, you will assist clients in bringing data closer to their customers by integrating IT and facility components and enabling rapid deployment of solutions that meet critical objectives.
Responsibilities- Act as the commissioning agent for mechanical systems and document testing on‑site.
- Manage mechanical systems including cooling, heating, plumbing, fire, fuel oil, and BMS in various environments.
- Lead project planning, gather specifications, and execute assignments within a multidisciplinary commissioning role for large facility projects.
- Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other commissioning documentation.
- Adhere to quality‑management and QC procedures that validate and document client systems.
- Identify and assemble required documentation, drawings, and data from clients, vendors, and contractors.
- Develop site‑specific commissioning plans and factory witness test procedures for major equipment.
- Attend factory witness tests and provide detailed reports identifying deficiencies.
- Schedule and lead commissioning meetings, ensuring proper documentation.
- Develop and administer functional tests for various building mechanical systems.
- Complete real‑time documentation using cloud data collection or hard‑copy forms as needed.
- Maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and tools to track projects, and write comprehensive final commissioning reports.
- Lead and manage external resources, schedule periodic meetings, and attend construction and coordination meetings as required.
- Interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and owners’ agents; execute project assignments.
- Submit progress reports and meeting notes to project and facility managers.
- Respond to customer inquiries in a manner that exceeds expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military or industrial training with 3+ years experience in mechanical/controls engineering, energy services, plant operations, or a related construction‑management field.
- Previous Data Center / Mission‑critical experience.
- Experience commissioning or maintaining electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience working with general contractors and excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of major regulations, industry codes and standards, and basic construction materials and methods.
- Strong preference for commissioning experience in data centers.
The U.S. pay range for this position is $86,000 – $135,000 annually and does not include bonuses, overtime or other compensation or benefits. Pay within this range may vary by location and by job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
