Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed manufacturing plans for new programs that will require new equipment or retooling of existing equipment.
  • Prepare all sourcing activities from RFQ to PO for major outside tooling and equipment purchases (e.g., continuity testers, alignment equipment, balancers, uniformity equipment).
  • Gather all relevant product information, production rates, and assembly requirements from customer contacts.
  • Assist launch team with training of equipment operators, providing reference and support resources.
  • Maintain process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
  • Monitor and support plant with equipment installation and launch.
  • Work with PC&L team to optimize material flow to the production line.
  • Understand Android operations (sequencing/subassembly, shipping, and receiving).
  • Be responsible for equipment certification and run‑off, providing feedback and escalating issues to leadership.
  • Act as a liaison with Plant team members to ensure lessons learned, best practices, and plant goals are incorporated into the new production process.
  • Coordinate program change requests.
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering guidance and support to ensure assembly processes, tooling, and equipment improve throughput, reduce scrap/rework and cost, and enhance quality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Engineer to drive PFMEA, Reverse PFMEA, Control Plan, and error‑proofing plan back into the design of assembly processes and equipment, ensuring a robust manufacturing system that meets quality and engineering standards.
  • Promote health and safety in all phases of engineering and launch.
  • Maintain equipment records by filing documents and updating the equipment database.
  • Protect organization value by keeping information confidential and warning others of potential breaches.
  • Work well in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Effectively interact with, lead, and develop people.
  • Teach, lead, and continuously improve all areas of the business.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Expectations
  • General understanding of manufacturing processes and Android operations (sequencing, sub‑assembly, shipping and receiving, and tooling).
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, equipment, automation, engineering specifications, and cost reduction in automotive assembly applications.
  • High level of analytical ability and problem‑solving skills for unusual and difficult problems.
  • Strong decision‑making skills, with the ability to grasp technical concepts quickly.
  • Proficiency with GD&T process diagrams, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all team members—manufacturing, engineering, executive leadership, etc.
  • Working knowledge of IATF quality system.
  • High level of computer skills including Windows applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (a plus).
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Qualifications And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in assembly and/or manufacturing and 2+ years of experience with APQP system.
  • Supervisory experience in the manufacturing field is preferred.
