Engineering Technician III – Electrical Engineering Department
Full‑time position located in Arlington, Texas. Pay commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.
Job SummaryThe Engineering Technician III provides technical support to students in teaching laboratories and Makerspaces within the Electrical Engineering department. Responsibilities are split evenly between supporting the EE/CSE Makerspace and EE Labs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist students with their design projects, including PCB design and milling, 3D modeling and printing, soldering, CNC milling, and laser cutting.
- Train students in effective use of technical instruments and associated components such as power supplies, digital multimeters, signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, microcontrollers, and other components.
- Train students on PCB milling, through‑hole plating, masking PCBs, and 3D printing.
- Perform yearly inventory, maintain room and equipment records, and manage surplus equipment.
- Maintain 3D printers, soldering stations, CNC mills, PCB mills, and other electronic equipment in the Makerspace.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with basic electronics and troubleshooting.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience working with or on 3D printers, milling machines, or laser cutting equipment.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to train students on the use of specific instruments and software, including PCB mills, laser cutters, saws, through‑hole platters, CNC mills, 3D printers, and related materials.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365, PCB design software, CAD/CAM software.
