Job Title:
Avionics Technician
This role supports an expanding fleet of business jets by inspecting, testing, repairing, and installing avionics systems on Part 135 aircraft while maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational readiness. You will perform hands‑on troubleshooting, work independently, and thrive in a fast‑paced charter environment, ensuring aircraft remain mission‑ready and compliant with all regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Perform advanced avionics troubleshooting and diagnostics on navigation, communication, autopilot, ADS‑B, transponder, and flight‑control systems using schematics, wiring diagrams, and specialized test equipment.
- Repair, replace, and adjust avionics components, including line‑replaceable units (LRUs), wiring bundles, antennas, sensors, and cockpit displays to restore full system functionality.
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections in accordance with OEM manuals, FAA regulations, and internal maintenance programs to ensure continued airworthiness.
- Support avionics installations and upgrades, including GPS/WAAS, EFIS, Wi‑Fi systems, cabin management systems, and cockpit modernization projects.
- Use avionics test equipment such as multimeters, pitot‑static testers, and oscilloscopes to verify system performance and troubleshoot faults.
- Complete all required maintenance entries, logbooks, and corrective action documentation accurately, clearly, and on time.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Maintenance, pilots, and the maintenance team to maximize aircraft availability and dispatch reliability.
- Ensure strict adherence to FAA Part 135, Part 43, and Part 91 requirements, as well as internal quality and safety standards, during all maintenance and modification activities.
- Follow established electrical and wiring harness practices to maintain safe, reliable, and well‑documented aircraft configurations.
- Support aircraft modification projects on business jets and turboprops, ensuring that all changes meet regulatory and technical standards.
- Minimum 3+ years of avionics troubleshooting and repair experience on business jets or turboprops.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and aircraft maintenance manuals.
- Proficiency with avionics test equipment, including multimeters, pitot‑static testers, and oscilloscopes.
- Hands‑on experience with avionics systems, including navigation, communication, autopilot, ADS‑B, transponder, and flight‑control systems.
- Strong avionics repair and installation skills, including work on wiring harnesses, LRUs, antennas, sensors, and cockpit displays.
- Solid understanding of FAA regulations related to aircraft maintenance and documentation, including Part 135, Part 43, and Part 91 requirements.
- Experience performing avionics inspections, repairs, and modifications on aircraft in a charter or similar fast‑paced operational environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain an airport SIDA badge.
- Ability to work independently, solve complex technical problems, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- A&P license or FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL).
- Experience working on aircraft such as Citation, Learjet, Hawker, or Challenger.
- Prior experience supporting Part 135 or charter fleets.
- Familiarity with avionics systems from manufacturers such as Garmin, Collins, Honeywell, Universal, or Gogo.
- Experience with cabin management systems (CMS), Wi‑Fi, and cabin connectivity troubleshooting.
- Background in aircraft modification projects, including avionics upgrades and cockpit modernization.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to communicate effectively with flight crews, maintenance personnel, and leadership.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, thorough maintenance records.
