The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Dallas-Fort Worth region, which is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States.
The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking a Principal Transportation Planner to provide planning and technical expertise in support of expediting engineering-oriented projects in the region, including roadway and multimodal projects.
Responsibilities- Coordinating with internal/external partners to determine the appropriate identification and evaluation of alternative alignments and transportation modes
- Working with partner agencies to advance project delivery
- Participating in public involvement activities
- Conducting and reviewing highly technical analyses
- Coordinating with appropriate transportation and resource agencies
- Preparing and reviewing correspondence, technical reports, executive summaries, grant applications, and other documents
- Preparing and delivering oral presentations
- Excellent analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, familiarity with Microsoft Teams desired
- Familiarity with civil engineering principles, design, and project development
- Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing the quality of work
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in analytical, quantitative methods (e.g., engineering)
- At least five years of job‑related experience
- Professional Engineer license preferred, but not required
- Minimum of $85,798.06 – $ annually
