Are you looking to join an award-winning organization with a culture built on innovation and public service? The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Dallas-Fort Worth region, which is the fourth largest area in the United States.
The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments is seeking an intern to support transit projects and contribute to small transit provider efforts for transportation projects and programs.
Ideal candidates should attend school in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, be in an undergraduate or graduate program, and be able to work at least 25 hours per week while attending school.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Working with supervisor, to coordinate, implement, and manage short-term transit-related projects
- Assisting with ongoing development of document-sharing system and websites to facilitate efforts as well as provide technical assistance to transit providers outside of the metroplex
- Working with supervisor to maintain documentation and records, and support file management systems
- Assisting with asset management efforts, including inventory reconciliation, site visits, documentation, and working with supervisor to provide technical assistance
- Working with supervisor to review and implement best practices in transit workforce development
- Working with supervisor to manage partnerships to support small transit provider efforts, including project management, implementation and documentation of oversight efforts
- Working with supervisor, and partner agencies to streamline project invoices and other project-specific documents to ensure project commitments are met
- Assisting with research and identification of eligible funding sources to support transit project expenses
Required Skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Good communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to and follow instructions, coordinate with other team members, and present ideas
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Required Education and Experience
- Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree seeking program during employment
- No work experience required
Minimum of $17.10 per hour
