The Lead Mechanical Engineer will lead a team of electrical and mechanical engineers in designing and developing modular building systems and integrated HVAC solutions. This role will be both technical and client-facing, responsible for ensuring high-quality engineering deliverables, managing communications with stakeholders, and driving process improvements within the engineering function.
Qualifications & Requirements- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (PE license preferred).
- 5–10 years of HVAC engineering experience, including leadership or project management responsibilities.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, or similar tools a plus.
- Proven experience designing HVAC systems for industrial or modular building environments.
- Understanding of national and local mechanical/electrical codes and standards.
- Experience conducting or reviewing CFD analysis and heat load calculations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across engineering disciplines and with external vendors.
- Demonstrated initiative in process improvement and engineering innovation.
- Lead a team of electrical and HVAC engineers in producing and updating General (G Sheets), HVAC (M Sheets), and Electrical (E Sheets) for Issued for Approval, As-Built, and Closeout Submittal drawing sets.
- Serve as the project lead and primary point of contact for clients and internal manufacturing teams.
- Attend and lead engineering meetings and calls, providing clear updates on team progress, challenges, and project needs.
- Develop and standardize Integrated Manufacturing HVAC designs and HVAC controls for modular e-houses.
- Conduct final reviews of drawing sets to ensure compliance with client specifications, project scope, and all applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements.
- Verify and validate heat load calculations and ensure proper HVAC equipment sizing for each project.
- Create and/or review CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analyses to ensure thermal performance meets design requirements.
- Provide technical input and hands‑on support in AutoCAD as needed to update or create engineering drawings.
- Collaborate with HVAC, Enclosure, and Electrical vendors and suppliers to select the best engineered systems for each project.
- Coordinate with internal engineering disciplines to align HVAC and electrical design requirements.
- Keep the Engineering Manager informed on design issues, schedule impacts, and resolutions.
- Support the manufacturing/production team by answering technical questions and providing guidance.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, including workflow mapping, standard work documentation, and process optimization for the engineering team.
