Job SummaryOur Controller directs comprehensive, full-cycle accounting functions, establishing internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records. This critical role oversees operational data via Service Titan, strategic financial reporting using Quick Books, and an ADP WFN payroll system. The successful candidate will ensure strict compliance with GAAP and Texas state regulations while managing corporate tax compliance and audit requirements.
CoreResponsibilities
- Financial Leadership: Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable, optimize cash flow, and supervise billing and collections processes.
- Corporate Reporting: Oversee the General Ledger, direct month-end and year-end closings, and present accurate corporate financial statements.
- Payroll Oversight: Assist with weekly payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax laws.
- Systems Strategy: Manage seamless data integration between Service Titan (job costing, invoicing) and Quick Books (ERP).
- Tax & Compliance: Direct the preparation of sales tax, 1099s, W-2s, and quarterly payroll reports (940, 941, TWC).
- CPA
Collaboration:
Partner with the external CPA to prepare and file annual federal and state corporate returns. - Audit Leadership: Lead internal and external financial audits, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors.
- Strategic Analysis: Conduct monthly financial reviews, analyze job profitability, and drive company-wide budgeting and forecasting.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with experience. Active CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Industry Knowledge: Direct experience in the Construction, HVAC, or Plumbing industries is strongly preferred.
- ERP Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in Quick Books is required.
- Software Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Service Titan or similar CRM is a plus.
- Technical
Skills:
Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities for complex financial modeling and data analysis. - Compliance: Deep understanding of GAAP, internal control frameworks, and Texas state tax regulations.
- Attributes: Exceptional leadership skills, high emotional intelligence, and a commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Pre-employment: Must pass a 10-panel drug screen and a background and physical clearance verification.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. and perform repetitive motions.
- Availability to work extended hours during peak seasons to meet deadlines.
