LHH is seeking a Director of Accounting for a growing organization operating in the infrastructure, utilities, and industrial services space. This role will serve as a strategic finance partner to senior leadership and report directly to the CFO. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of financial leadership, operational finance, and accounting expertise, along with experience supporting project-based or job-based business environments.
This position plays a key role in financial planning, reporting, operational analysis, and driving financial performance across business units.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes and ensure accurate financial reporting
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational goals
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes for operating and capital expenditures
- Prepare and present monthly financial reporting packages and operational metrics for business units
- Manage sales backlog reporting and analysis to support business planning and operational visibility
- Evaluate ROI and capital expenditure projects, providing financial guidance to operations leaders
- Analyze financial results and provide insights to improve operational and financial performance
- Oversee job-based and cost accounting processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability
- Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow projections
- Perform variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast
- Monitor project gross margins and financial performance through project completion
- Support inventory audits, external audit coordination, and compliance with accounting policies
- Mentor and guide finance and accounting staff while supporting team development
- Partner with operations and finance leadership on process improvements, reporting enhancements, and special projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA preferred
- CPA required
- 8–10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
- Experience in project-based or job-cost accounting environments, including percentage-of-completion accounting
- Strong background in financial reporting, financial analysis, and business partnering
- Experience working with ERP systems; exposure to Epicor or similar systems preferred
- Proven ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
