Lab Technician

Full Time Lab Technician

Schedule: M-F, 11AM to 7PM. Every 4th Saturday

Lab Technician at Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital – Arlington:

Performs laboratory technical procedures according to established and approved protocols. Exercises independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. Adheres to policies/procedures that meet federal and state regulations and accreditation standards. Provides technical skills in performance of lab tests and procedures, performs control checks, proficiency testing, periodic maintenance on equipment, and assists with patient care as needed.

• Collects blood from patients; checks quality of blood/specimens; assumes responsibility for the safety and comfort of the patient following established standards and practices.
• Performs clerical functions such as answering phones and charting of lab results.
• Responsible for specified computer and department maintenance as required.
• Must be detail-oriented; organized; people-oriented.
• Must be able to chart, file, and have working knowledge of all computer systems used within the clinical laboratory.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 60 college hours or two years laboratory experience
• Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies/standards.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to detect color and color changes.
