Millwood Hospital (a UHS Facility) is a 134-bed mental health facility that provides inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency treatment. Millwood’s caring, and multidisciplinary staff has successfully provided inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency care to children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults since 1971. Millwood Hospital is located in Arlington, TX in the heart of the city.

We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse (RN)to join our team on the night shift, providing exceptional mental health care in a dynamic hospital environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for patient-centered care, and the ability to work effectively during overnight hours. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

• Shift Available:
  Days (7am - 7pm), rotating weekends
• Must work 36 hours week
• Temporary assignment is 13 weeks. The temporary assignment may be extended additional weeks based on organizational needs.

NOTE:

Candidates employed by any UHS facility within the last 6 months are not eligible for these appointmens.

• Day Shift Nurses
  • Must work Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day

Hourly rate: $70.00

This position is not eligible for shift differential or benefits.

• Requirements

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required;
    Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (2) years' experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience working in psychiatric or behavioral health settings working with adolescents or children.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing.
  • Additional Requirements: CPR certification and training in appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint before working with patients. Successful completion of CPI training and Service Excellence Training before working with patients. Certifications may be obtained during new hire orientation.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health assessment tools, medication administration, and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in memory care units is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle acute pain management and emergency response procedures effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Critical care experience or background in hospital medicine enhances suitability for this role.

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to patients with diverse mental health needs, including crisis intervention and stabilization.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, mental status evaluations, and risk assessments.
• Administer medications accurately, including psychotropic agents, and monitor for adverse reactions or side effects.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with best practices and regulatory standards.
• Maintain detailed and accurate medical documentation ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
