Position SummaryWe are exclusively partnered with a growing, privately held construction company seeking an experienced HR Director to lead all aspects of Human Resources. Reporting to executive leadership, this individual will oversee the company's HR strategy and daily operations, including payroll
, compliance, talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, and organizational development.
This role will lead and develop a team of four HR and payroll professionals
, ensuring exceptional service to both corporate and field employees while building scalable processes to support continued growth.
- Lead all Human Resources functions across the organization.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of four HR and payroll professionals
. - Partner with executive leadership on organizational strategy, workforce planning, and culture.
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Oversee end-to-end payroll operations for corporate and field employees.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Partner with Finance to reconcile payroll-related reporting and maintain strong internal controls.
- Manage payroll systems, audits, tax reporting, and year-end processing.
- Lead recruiting efforts for salaried, hourly, and field personnel.
- Develop workforce planning strategies to support company growth.
- Oversee onboarding and employee orientation programs.
- Build strong partnerships with hiring managers and external recruiting firms.
- Advise managers on employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary matters.
- Investigate workplace concerns and ensure consistent policy application.
- Drive employee engagement, retention, and recognition initiatives.
- Oversee compensation planning and salary administration.
- Manage employee benefits programs and annual renewals.
- Partner with benefits brokers and vendors to ensure competitive offerings.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Oversee workers' compensation, leave administration, OSHA-related employment compliance, and unemployment claims.
- Maintain the employee handbook and HR policies.
- Oversee HRIS administration, employee records, reporting, and data integrity.
- Develop HR metrics and dashboards for executive leadership.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through process improvements and automation.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- 3+ years leading an HR function and managing direct reports.
- Experience overseeing payroll and HR operations.
- ADP experience is a plus.
- Construction, engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or skilled trades experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, payroll administration, employee relations, compensation, and benefits.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
