Position Summary

The Program Manager role will provide delivery leadership and coordination for a cross-functional team supporting the Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Console
, a software platform used by clinicians within the Department of Veterans Affairs to improve care for veterans.

This role is responsible for orchestrating priorities, activities, and dependencies across a diverse team that includes operations and field support staff, software engineers, data analytics professionals, and other technical and clinical support roles. The Program Manager ensures that work is aligned to mission objectives, delivery commitments, and stakeholder needs while maintaining transparency, accountability, and momentum across the program.

The VA requires this candidate to be a U.S. citizen.

Key Responsibilities Program & Delivery Coordination
  • Coordinate and align work across multiple functional teams, including:
    • Operations and field support
    • Software engineering and development
    • Data analytics and reporting
    • Product and clinical stakeholders
  • Set priorities with VA stakeholders and establish quarterly objectives
  • Translate priorities into actionable sprint plans and coordinated team activities
  • Ensure team meets delivery objectives as committed
Planning & Execution
  • Develop and maintain sprint plans and milestone roadmaps
  • Manage task sequencing, dependencies, and handoffs across teams as needed
  • Ensure delivery commitments are met while balancing operational support and ongoing development needs
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Serve as a primary coordination point between technical teams, operational staff, and government stakeholders
  • Facilitate a typical agile cadence (huddles, refinement, sprint planning, demos, retros) and ensure smooth internal communications
  • Manage external stakeholder communications (cross-functional forums, leadership updates, etc.)
Risk, Issue & Dependency Management
  • Proactively address obstacles that could impact timelines, system stability, or stakeholder confidence
  • Serve as the first point of internal problem solving. Escalate issues appropriately and drive resolution through collaboration and facilitation
Team Coordination & Support
  • Provide direction and clarity to team members regarding priorities and expectations
  • Foster collaboration across disciplines with differing workflows and perspectives
  • Support continuous improvement in delivery processes, communication, and coordination

Preferred Qualifications Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Health Informatics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in IT project or program delivery roles
  • Experience managing or coordinating cross-functional technical or operational teams
  • Experience supporting enterprise or mission-critical software systems
Delivery & Technical Knowledge
  • Experience supporting clinical decision support, electronic health records (EHRs), or healthcare analytics platforms
  • Prior experience working with or supporting VA, DoD, or federal health systems
  • Agile or delivery certifications (e.g., PMP, SAFe, CSM)
  • Experience coordinating activities across development, operations, and support teams
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT environments, clinical systems, or decision support tools is highly desirable
  • Experience working with government clients or in regulated environments
Communication & Leadership Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex technical activities into clear, stakeholder-friendly updates
  • Proven ability to coordinate work across teams without direct authority
  • Strong facilitation, organization, and prioritization skills

Salary range for this role is $150,000 - $180,000.
