Data Architect

Chenega Systems provides federal agencies empowered solutions in Cybersecurity and Data Visualization. Our Subject Matter Experts offer decades of experience working in the federal marketplace and the data visualization environment.

The Data Architect is responsible for leading enterprise data architecture efforts across the Army Intelligence Portfolio. This role is responsible for designing, modernizing, and governing mission‑aligned data architectures that support secure software systems, advanced analytics, and enterprise decision‑making.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain enterprise data architectures, data warehousing blueprints, logical and physical data models, and integration strategies for Army Intelligence mission systems
  • Lead data modernization initiatives, transitioning legacy systems from "as‑is" to "to‑be" architectures, with a focus on cloud and hybrid solutions
  • Design and manage enterprise data structures, schemas, data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and authoritative data sources
  • Establish and manage end‑to‑end data lifecycle processes, including ingestion, transformation (ETL), storage, governance, and retirement
  • Evaluate hardware and software platforms and assess the reusability of current data for additional analyses
  • Leverage deep technical expertise and strong domain knowledge of Army enterprise systems to translate complex mission requirements into authoritative, compliant, and future‑ready data solutions across cloud, hybrid, and distributed environments
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with 8+ years of experience
  • AWS Certified Data Engineer or AWS Solutions Architect – specialty or industry equivalent certification
  • TS/SCI clearance required
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • AWS Certificated Data Engineer or industry-equivalent data certification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Designing the overall enterprise data framework, including data models, databases, warehouses, lakes, and pipelines, aligning with business objectives
  • Experience with cloud and hybrid architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure, or equivalent government cloud environments)
  • Experience supporting secure data integration, cross‑domain solutions, and enterprise governance frameworks
  • Developing and implementing data governance policies, standards, procedures, and processes for data quality, security, privacy, and lifecycle management
  • Overseeing data profiling, quality assessments, metadata management (catalogs, dictionaries), and lineage tracking
  • Expertise in using ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) best practices
  • Tracking record of executing projects with similar scopes and requirements
