The Cloud Administrator will develop data solutions to ingest data from various source systems, and will play a pivotal role in architecting, implementing, and maintaining the data infrastructure for our Bronze Layer at GM Financial to support data science, analytics, and business teams globally. GM Financial is on a cloud data migration journey. This role will be responsible for system and API integration, data operations and engineering, pipeline development and orchestration for data ingestion.
We will be automating first, delivering data as a service solution to the Data Science, Analytics, and data consumption zones.
- Design, develop and maintain data ingestion pipelines in major public clouds such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather and analyze data ingestion requirements and develop high‑performing solutions for data ingestion.
- Implement data ingestion transformation and processing solutions in cloud using Databricks, Synapse, Data Factory, or similar tools.
- Optimize performance and reliability of data pipelines to meet SLAs and business objectives.
- Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data validation and monitoring mechanisms.
- Provide technical expertise to support ingestion and migration of internal and external data in multiple formats and types to the clouds.
- Collaborate with product owners and other Agile teams to establish service level objectives for applications and agreed consequences if the objectives are not being met.
- Collaborate with development team members to swarm, troubleshoot, and resolve problems that may exist in cloud‑hosted environments.
- Good understanding of data engineering, data operations, IT, analytics teams or equivalent required.
- Good knowledge of programming languages (Python, Scala, PySpark) required.
- Understanding of cybersecurity encryption certificates, keys and secrets.
- Knowledge of ISTM and CMDB systems such as Service Now or similar.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work well in a team environment required.
- Good understanding in designing, engineering, and implementing cloud data solutions, collaborating with the business to build enterprise‑scale data solutions.
- Knowledge with Agile methodologies for cloud data engineering and transformation.
- High School degree required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Computer Science/Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, or related discipline required.
- Master’s Degree in the field of Computer Science/Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics, or related discipline preferred.
- Knowledge of programming languages (Python, Scala, PySpark) required.
- Understanding of data engineering, data operations, IT, analytics teams or equivalent required.
- Experience with cloud technologies like Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) preferred.
