This role is more than system administration—it’s about maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of the technology that supports life‑saving services. You’ll work with servers, virtualization platforms, directory services, enterprise applications, network infrastructure, and backup systems to ensure our operations remain available, secure, and resilient.

Why This Role Matters

Every 9-1-1 call relies on a robust and dependable technology environment. The 9-1-1 Systems Administrator helps ensure that emergency communication systems remain operational, secure, and ready to serve the public whenever they are needed.

This position drives impact by:

  • Maintaining critical server, storage, and virtual infrastructure environments.
  • Supporting enterprise applications and systems that enable emergency communications operations.
  • Monitoring system performance and proactively resolving issues before they affect users or services.
  • Strengthening cybersecurity, data protection, and business continuity capabilities.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and partner agencies to support technology initiatives and infrastructure improvements.
  • If you’re passionate about technology, problem‑solving, and supporting public safety through reliable systems and infrastructure, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, maintain, and monitor physical and virtual server environments.
  • Administer enterprise directory services, including domains, organizational units, group policies, and user access controls.
  • Manage virtualization platforms, virtual servers, and application delivery environments.
  • Configure, monitor, and validate enterprise backup and disaster recovery systems.
  • Support and administer Microsoft SQL Server and application server environments.
  • Maintain enterprise network services including DNS, SMTP, and related infrastructure components.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, system, and network issues while providing technical support to users.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze operational metrics, and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, security, and efficiency.
  • Assist with technology deployments, infrastructure upgrades, and implementation of new solutions.
  • Coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, and service providers to support operational and project needs.
Who We’re Looking For

Someone who combines strong technical expertise with a service‑oriented mindset. The ideal candidate is:

  • A systems professional who enjoys troubleshooting and solving complex technical challenges.
  • A proactive thinker who identifies risks and opportunities before they become problems.
  • A detail‑oriented administrator who values reliability, security, and operational excellence.
  • A collaborative team member who communicates effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • A technology professional motivated by public service and supporting mission‑critical operations.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience supporting enterprise servers, systems, or network infrastructure.
  • Experience with server operating systems, virtualization technologies, backup and recovery solutions, and enterprise network services.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, directory services, systems monitoring tools, and network technologies.
  • Valid state‑issued driver's license required.
  • Industry‑recognized certifications in systems administration, networking, virtualization, storage, or related technologies are desirable.
Salary Range
