Business Management, Corporate Strategy
This is not an easy job. It is an extraordinary one.
The Archway is seeking a bold, strategic, and relentlessly driven Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) to lead and power a comprehensive fundraising enterprise at one of the most ambitious mission-driven organizations in Texas.
This is not a maintenance role. This is not a stewardship-only role. And it is not for someone who prefers to manage from the sidelines. We are building something enduring, and after 50 years and a very recent brand update, we are just getting started.
The OpportunityThe CPO will serve on the Executive Leadership Team and report directly to the CEO. You will lead a high-performing development team while carrying a significant personal portfolio of transformational donors.
You will be responsible not only for annual revenue growth, but for building the long-term financial engine of the organization, including:
- Designing and launching a robust endowment strategy
- Preparing for and executing a capital campaign within the next five years
- Expanding the legacy gifts strategy
You are an executive‑level fundraiser with a proven record of securing impactful gifts. You have led teams. You have sat at leadership tables. You understand forecasting, campaign planning, donor psychology, and performance accountability.
You are confident without being arrogant. Strategic without being quiet and theoretical. Comfortable in rooms with high‑net‑worth donors, corporate executives, and foundation presidents.
- Ask boldly and unapologetically
- Coach and stretch a team toward higher performance
- Partner strategically with a CEO
- Translate vision into compelling investment opportunities
- Hold people accountable, including yourself
You have experience leading comprehensive fundraising programs. You understand that serious philanthropy requires discipline, clarity, and courage.
You are wildly extroverted. You gain energy from rooms full of people. You don’t just tolerate events, you work them. You are genuinely curious about people, comfortable starting conversations anywhere, and energized by building relationships that turn into long‑term investment.
What Makes This DifferentThe Archway’s executive team is exceptional...mission-driven, deeply competent, collaborative, and yes, genuinely fun. We work hard. We laugh often. We expect excellence. We tell the truth. We do not tolerate mediocrity. We are bold and gritty and all the things you’d expect from a group of Texan women.
You will have real influence here. Your strategy will shape the organization’s long‑term trajectory. Your leadership will help determine the scale of impact for decades.
But this role will stretch you.
You will carry weight. You will be accountable for ambitious growth. You will be expected to model confidence, clarity, and resolve.
If you are looking for comfort, this is not your job.
If you are looking to build legacy-level impact for one of the world’s darkest social issues, it might be.
Qualifications- 10+ years of progressive fundraising experience, including senior leadership responsibility
- Demonstrated success securing major and principal gifts
- Experience leading and developing fundraising teams
- Executive presence and board‑level engagement experience
- Experience with campaign strategy and/or endowment growth strongly preferred
Compensation is highly competitive with opportunities for bonus. Position comes with full benefits, generous PTO and holiday policy, and a hybrid work environment.
