Summary of Job

Under the direction of pressroom supervision, the Packaging Coordinator oversees packaging operations along with hourly and temporary employees to ensure the production of the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost, while meeting company standards for quality and performance. The role adheres to customer specifications and delivery requirements, and works in accordance with Pregis policies and procedures.

Overview

To ensure constant quality monitoring during production. Coordinates workflow by monitoring packaging workforce. Helps packaging employees in the department perform their duties correctly and operate at or above designated run speeds using the identified lean personnel packaging model provided in the training procedures. Ensures QC protocols are followed diligently by coordinating the efforts of the Pregis material packers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Verify that all SAP materials are correct and accounted for on all jobs based on the envelope format being produced and as instructed by the line operator.
  • Monitor all jobs for manufacturing defects and report any non-conformance issues.
  • Monitor packaging for SOP defects; correct and report all non-conformance issues.
  • Coordinate and monitor the efforts of all packers around quality monitoring, QC testing, and hourly pulls.
  • Give direction to material packers in cooperation with supervision; ensure all shifts monitor and coordinate required job rotations of material packers with rotations at a minimum of every two hours.
  • Work with supervision and Quality Assurance to monitor and ensure break times are completed fairly and according to the Pregis employee handbook, without hindering production or burdening other employees.
  • Coordinate with supervision regarding manning schedules and overtime allocations; ensure overtime is delegated equitably and fairly.
  • Print labels when needed and maintain pallet flags as required.
  • Maintain an open dialogue with supervision and other employees to minimize delays.
  • Update upcoming shift information accurately.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Assist in creating an environment of improved performance with an emphasis on quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Strive for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure packaging employees comply with all standard operational procedures and Pregis safety standards.
  • Maintain a strong sense of urgency.
  • Resolve problem issues and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Keep records organized, plan, and schedule accordingly.
  • Delegate tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills that foster teamwork.
  • Work as part of a cohesive team.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
