The Production Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing production plans to ensure efficient manufacturing operations, optimal resource utilization, and timely delivery of chemical products. This role manages production schedules, capacity planning, inventory control, and cross-functional coordination between manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, quality, maintenance, and sales teams to meet customer demand while maintaining safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain short-term and long-term production plans based on customer demand, inventory targets, production capacity, and business priorities.
  • Create detailed production schedules for batch and continuous chemical manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address changes in demand, raw material availability, equipment constraints, or operational issues.
  • Optimize production sequencing to minimize changeovers, downtime, waste, and production losses.
  • Ensure alignment between production plans, sales forecasts, and supply chain requirements.
  • Analyze production capacity, equipment availability, labor requirements, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement improvement plans to increase productivity and throughput.
  • Coordinate with operations teams to ensure efficient utilization of reactors, processing equipment, storage tanks, and packaging facilities.
  • Support capacity expansion planning and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain appropriate raw material, intermediate, and finished goods inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of chemicals, packaging materials, and critical supplies.
  • Work closely with supply chain teams to improve inventory accuracy, reduce excess stock, and prevent material shortages.
  • Support demand forecasting and supply planning activities.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, Research and Development, Maintenance, EHS, Procurement, Logistics, and Sales teams.
  • Participate in production meetings and provide updates on schedule adherence, risks, and recovery plans.
  • Coordinate product changeovers, new product introductions, and process improvement projects.
  • Communicate production constraints and recommend solutions to management.
  • Ensure production planning activities comply with chemical industry safety standards, environmental regulations, and company procedures.
  • Support compliance with EHS requirements, quality systems, and regulatory standards such as ISO, GMP, or other applicable industry requirements.
  • Consider hazardous material handling, storage limitations, batch traceability, and process safety requirements during planning activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in production planning, manufacturing operations, or supply chain roles within the chemical, specialty chemicals, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing processes, batch production, and plant operations.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar planning platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
