Salary Range: $20.00 - $26.00 Hourly
Job SummaryThe Press Brake Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press brake machines to produce high-quality metal components. The operator ensures parts meet dimensional specifications while following safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Set up and operate CNC or manual press brake machines.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
- Select the correct tooling, dies, and machine settings for each job.
- Program bends and steps at the machine vs being programmed by engineers and pushed to the machine.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision tools.
- Perform first-piece and in-process quality inspections.
- Adjust machine settings to maintain product quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Load and unload metal sheets and finished parts safely.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment clean.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Work with supervisors and quality personnel to resolve production issues.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience operating a press brake or similar metal fabrication equipment preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments accurately.
- Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills:
- Experience with CNC press brakes where bends are programed at the machine (e.g., Amada, Trumpf, Bystronic, Cincinnati).
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Ability to troubleshoot machine and tooling issues.
- Forklift experience (if required).
- Manufacturing or fabrication shop environment.
- Frequent standing, bending, and lifting.
- Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and metal materials.
- Overtime and shift work may be required based on production needs.
