Coordinator of Youth Ministry

The principal duty of all employees is to assist in the mission of the Church in the Diocese of Fort Worth. General

Position Summary:

Responsible for continuous religious formation of students' 9th
-12th grade. Collaborate with and oversees the spiritual formation of these students.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Is responsible for adherence to the vision of the Diocese and the mission of the Parish.
  • Will assist the youth in forming intergenerational relationships within the liturgical and ministerial life of the parish so that youth become active collaborators in the life, community and mission of the parish.
  • Collaborates with Pastor and Director of Faith Formation in growing the ministry.
  • Executes a well-ordered and mission-aligned youth ministry program that combines rigorous and deep faith formation with appropriate recreational activities. This occurs on a weekly basis.
  • In addition to the above program, plans and leads students in retreats, conferences, and other similar activities, either external with other parishes/diocesan or internal ia Goretti.
  • Ensures all Safe Environment policies are followed diligently at all events, including but not limited to proper adult to youth ratio.
  • Collaborates with Faith Formation department in ancillary duties such as youth registration, documentation of incidents, purchase orders, etc.
  • Professional development through ongoing study, education, workshops, etc.
  • Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires regular, on-site presence ia Goretti Catholic Church. The Director of Youth Ministry must be available in the office during most normal business hours to collaborate with parish staff, oversee youth ministry activities, and manage administrative tasks.
  • Remote work is not an option for this role due to the need for in-person engagement with staff, students, and parents, as well as the coordination of on-site events, meetings, and retreats.
  • Flexibility in work hours is required, including availability during weekends and evenings for events, but primary duties must be performed in the parish office.
  • This position works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding business needs, tight deadlines and heavy workloads.

Travel Requirements:
Infrequent travel, by car, may be required to Diocese or for retreats or other youth events

Education and Experience Preferred:

Required:

Active member of the Catholic Church in good standing.

Bachelor's degree in theology with religious education emphasis or bachelor's degree in education with Catholic adult formation certification

Good organizational and administrative skills, including competency in Microsoft Suite and familiarity with databases.

Possess leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with parish staff and volunteers.

Being bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • Demonstrated ability to listen empathetically, make peace, and de-escalate
  • Demonstrated history of good judgment.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for adaptability and flexibility.
  • Ability to use various computer software programs; strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Word and Excel.
  • Ability to use various office machines (copier, fax, phones, calculator, scanner, etc.) or ability to learn.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow directives from Pastor or Chief of Staff promptly.
  • Ability to receive, understand, retain, and complete verbal and written tasks.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work efficiently with staff, clergy, religious, and laity.
  • Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well with people from a diverse variety of audiences.
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, and communication skills.

FLSA Designation: (Non-Exempt) (Occasional 5-7 hours a week) (Schedule is flexible)
