Salary
The annual salary for this position ranges from $15.77 to $18.00. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
Purpose of PositionPerforms routine landscape and grounds maintenance duties in the care of campus lawns, plants, and trees under general supervision.
Essential Functions- Performs routine maintenance of campus grounds, lawns, turf, planting beds, trees, shrubs, and seasonal color through mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, weed control, mulching, planting, hand watering, and related landscape maintenance activities.
- Operates and maintains standard groundskeeping equipment, utility vehicles, hand tools, and power equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, leaf vacuums, and related equipment; assists with larger or specialized equipment as assigned.
- Maintains campus cleanliness and safety by collecting trash, leaves, recycling, debris, and dead animals; cleaning sidewalks, hardscapes, entrances, gutters, creeks, drains, and other exterior areas; and performing power washing and gum removal.
- Inspects assigned areas to identify and report irrigation issues, plant pathogens, diseases, insects, suspicious behavior or objects, and other campus concerns; performs minor irrigation repairs and supports maintenance of campus water features as directed.
- Supports campus events, departmental projects, and special requests by providing labor for plant set‑ups, barricades, banner installation and repair, Community Garden mulch and compost delivery, and other OFM project needs.
- Responds to campus needs and emergencies before, during, and after normal hours of operation, including fires, electrical outages, floods, icy conditions, and other emergency situations; provides directions and assistance to campus visitors as needed.
- Completes assigned work orders and performs related grounds maintenance tasks in accordance with established procedures, work priorities, and safety requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Valid Texas driver license and acceptable 3-year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Experience in grounds maintenance and the operation of power equipment.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Ability to understand verbal instructions and safely perform assigned work.
- Willingness to learn the operation and care of groundskeeping equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, follow established procedures and verbal instructions, observe safety requirements, and safely operate standard groundskeeping tools and equipment.
- Monday through Friday; 6:00am through 2:30pm
- Driving of UT owned vehicle required.
- May work in extreme temperatures.
- May work in all weather conditions.

- May work around biohazards.
- May work around chemicals.
- May work around electrical and/or mechanical hazards.
- Climbing of ladders.
- Lifting and moving objects.
