This is an On-Site role based out of our Location in Arlington, TX.

Target Pay

$16.00- $20.00 an hour.

Job Description

The Antech Imaging Academy is the leading provider in veterinary ultrasound technique and diagnostic education in the US. We specialize in multi-modality learning, providing veterinarians and veterinary paraprofessionals with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their field. We are currently seeking to expand our team with a motivated Veterinary Assistant who shares our commitment to excellence in animal care and education.

Job Responsibilities Animal Care and Husbandry
  • Clean and sanitize animal kennels, cages, and other housing areas regularly to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Provide care for animals as needed, including feeding, watering, and monitoring their health and behavior.
  • Assist in administering medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Assist the veterinarian in administering reversal medications and fluids as needed during sedation procedures.
  • Prepare animals and the training rooms for upcoming procedures, ensuring everything is set up according to protocol.
Animal Restraint
  • Safely and effectively restrain animals.
  • Utilize appropriate techniques to minimize stress and discomfort for animals.
Technical Tasks
  • General understanding of sedation procedures and monitoring anesthetic vital parameters and responses to medications.
  • Collaborate with the veterinarian to prepare paperwork and medications for hands on training.
  • Assist the veterinarian with administering medications and handling animals during examinations and treatments.
Transportation and Errands
  • Transport animals to and from appointments or facilities as needed.
  • Perform occasional errands related to clinic operations, such as picking up supplies or delivering documents.
Assisting with Animal Adoptions
  • Support the adoption process by preparing animals for adoption, including ensuring they are healthy and presentable.
Building Cleaning and Maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and organized training space and ensure all equipment is properly sanitized and operational.
  • Assist with light cleaning tasks within the academy, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting common areas.
  • Ensure that all equipment and supplies are maintained in good condition and report any maintenance issues.
Client Interaction and Support
  • Interact with students and staff friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Provide strong customer experience through the thoughtful and professional care of the animals and educational facility.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting is required.
  • Strong understanding of general anesthesia
  • Strong understanding of animal behavior and handling.
  • Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to animal care.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to handle occasional errands and varying tasks as needed.
  • Service oriented attitude.
  • Ability to be proactive.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Proven reliability through punctual attendance.
  • Candidates must be 21 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license. A clean driving record and successful completion of an MVR check are required for this position.
  • Licensed as veterinary technician, associate’s degree in related field is a plus
Physical Requirements
  • Predominantly standing and/or walking (75%)
  • Lifting up to 60 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 30 lbs. and bending or kneeling for cleaning purposes
