Overview
The Department of Civil Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will support multiple federally funded projects focusing on coastal hazards and resilience. Topics include:
- Assessment and mitigation of compound hydrologic hazards.
- Effectiveness and resilience of nature-based solutions for coastal management.
- Integrated modeling of shoreline adaptation decisions and estuarine hydrodynamics.
In accordance with USCIS regulations, successful applicants must be legally able to accept work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Required QualificationsCandidates must have earned a doctoral degree in civil/environmental engineering or a related field. Desired qualifications include:
- A strong theoretical background in environmental fluid mechanics and coastal processes.
- Experience developing coastal hydrodynamic and morphological models.
- Proficiency in coding and high-performance computing systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- A demonstrated publication record.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be expected to work independently to develop and apply statistical, data-driven, and process-based models to coastal systems; analyze and visualize model outputs; communicate with project partners and stakeholders; and disseminate research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and at professional conferences.
