Research Scientist Assistant – Health Innovation Institute, University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, TX. Position status:
Term, Work schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm. Termination date: 08/31/2027. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Research Scientist Assistant supports Dr. Dennis Lal and his research team with day-to-day research activities and administrative functions, ensuring smooth operations of research projects, compliance with institutional and sponsor requirements, and efficient coordination of resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with data collection, organization, and preliminary analysis for ongoing research projects.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date research records, databases, and documentation.
- Support preparation of research materials, including protocols, consent forms, and study‑related documents.
- Coordinate scheduling for research‑related meetings, participant visits, and project timelines.
- Help with literature reviews and reference management for manuscripts and grant proposals.
- Prepare and process research‑related paperwork, including IRB submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews.
- Monitor compliance with institutional, federal, and sponsor regulations.
- Assist in budget tracking and expense reconciliation for research projects.
- Support grant preparation by gathering required documentation and formatting submissions.
- Serve as a liaison between the research team and administrative offices for procurement, travel, and reporting needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (biology, neuroscience, psychology, or related discipline) or equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Prior experience in research or research administration.
- Experience with IRB processes and grant administration.
- Experience and knowledge of data management tools and statistical software.
- Familiarity with academic research environments and funding mechanisms.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with research compliance systems is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Based at UTA, Arlington, TX with regular on‑site collaboration with Cook Children’s teams in Fort Worth.
- Engagement with secure computing environments, IRB‑protected datasets, and sensitive clinical data workflows.
- Office, computational, and occasional clinical‑research interface settings.
