Summary

The individuals who perform this job provide extraordinary shopping experiences to our guests and stock merchandise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Know and actively demonstrate daily our Company Mission Statement and Core Values.
  • Maintain uniform standard, as detailed in the Employee Manual, for all worked hours.
  • Know and actively demonstrate superior product knowledge.
  • Greet guests and engage in conversation with a smile and a helpful demeanor, remembering that the guest always comes first.
  • Recommend merchandise based on the guest’s needs or desires, focusing on in‑house brands.
  • Answer guests’ questions concerning price and use of merchandise.
  • Create client relationships with regular guests.
  • If needed, carry product to register counters and carry out products for guests.
  • May be asked to run a cash register as business dictates.
  • May be asked to receive as business dictates.
  • Prepare promotional events as necessary.
  • Set up displays or arrange merchandise on floor stacks, counters or tables to promote sales.
  • Front merchandise and rotate stock for freshness and stock shelves with product.
  • Maintain neat and orderly sales floor and back stock.
  • Clean shelves, bottles, aisles, and tables; look for products not stocked properly to avoid trips and falls.
  • Maintain fresh and readable price tags on all products.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding fast or slow‑moving product, stock levels, out‑of‑stocks, and department needs.
  • Prepare sales floor and storage areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
  • Properly use and maintain computers and RF scanner equipment.
  • Seek to continually improve related skills and knowledge to contribute to profitability and productivity.
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
  • Limit use of personal cell phone to work related activities only while on the sales floor.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
  • Constantly stand, lift, carry, walk, bend, and reach products routinely weighing 50 pounds or more; use proper lifting techniques and tools; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds routinely and up to 100 pounds occasionally; push or pull 50–100 pounds regularly.
  • Communicate with and understand team members and guests.
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by management.
  • Clean the bathroom may be required.
  • Attendance and timeliness are required. This is not a remote sales job.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed above satisfactorily. State law requires the employee to be over the age of 21.

Education or Experience

We prefer retail sales experience. A high school diploma or GED is preferred; however, experience is also valued.

Language Skills

Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and calculate discounts and percentages.

Demeanor and Personal Skills

Friendly, helpful, outgoing, responsible, reliable, and committed to providing extraordinary service. Patience and a strong work ethic. Self‑starter who completes assignments in a timely fashion and looks for the next task.

Hours

Full‑time: typically 35 hours per week. Must be available to work any shift on Friday or Saturday and 80% or more of all shifts each week.

Part‑time: up to 25 hours per week.

Working outside scheduled time without District Manager approval is prohibited.

Reasoning Ability

Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Certificates and Licenses

Must maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit; a Food Handlers Permit may be required. We provide training and pay for up to 3 hours of the TABC course, deducting a $8 fee from pay.

Physical Demands

Regularly stand, walk, bend; lift up to 50 pounds routinely and up to 100 pounds occasionally; push or pull 50 to 100 pounds.

Work Environment

Positive environment with moderate noise; may be exposed to outdoor weather while serving guests.
