Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.
One (1) weekend every other month:
Saturday - Sunday; 8:00 a.m.
-4:30 p.m.
One (1) week every other month:
Monday-Friday; 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Participates in the on-call program for before/after operating hours and weekends.
Salary:
Salary is commensurate based on qualifications and relevant experience up to $40,800
Pay Basis:
Monthly
The Maintenance Worker II provides sub-journeyman work in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair tasks in one or more craft areas. Responsible for make ready duties in apartments & residence halls, maintenance and repair work of painting, carpentry (countertops, doors, framing, drywall), furniture & equipment moving, light plumbing, basic appliance repair/installation, and light electrical.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Performs multi-family housing & make ready duties including:
- sheet rock replacement and repair, plumbing, painting, appliance repair (removal and install), light carpentry, cabinetry, ceramic tile repair, counter tops, flooring repair including (vinyl tile & plank), wall texture, door & hardware (installation and repair).
- Assists journeyman & carpenters in major repair, maintenance, or construction projects.
- Provides quality customer service and ensures a comfortable living environment for students in University Housing.
- Performs emergency mechanical repairs until journeyman or supervisory personnel arrive.
- Serves as essential personnel to the University and is required to report to work during campus emergencies and/or closures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Drives a UTA vehicle.
- Two (2) years of experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair work.
- This position requires a Texas Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License and three (3) years of acceptable driving history.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in performing a variety of sub-journeyman maintenance and repair tasks.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to effectively execute oral and written instruction.
- Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.
- Position requires the ability to work effectively with others and in a team environment as well as independently when needed.
