Maintenance Technician

Regular Full-Time, Hourly

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of maintenance tasks requiring knowledge of multiple skilled trades. Requires the ability to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment, electronic and/or computerized controls and systems, electrical systems, etc. Develops and utilizes predictive maintenance tools to predict and correct issues before downtime would have occurred and maximize equipment availability and reliability. Must be self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and a relentless, continuous improvement, never good enough, injury-free workplace mindset.

Principal

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential):
  • Establish, document, and execute preventive maintenance and calibration programs.
  • Perform periodic preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Develop and implement predictive maintenance tools and techniques to maximize equipment availability.
  • Perform calibrations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair, or replace electrical, mechanical, and/or computerized systems.
  • Read and understand prints, schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to determine methods and sequence for repairing machinery and equipment.
  • Assemble and repair electromechanical assemblies using meters, gauges, power tools, hand tools, lifting devices and drawings.
  • Prepare parts sketches and write work orders.
  • Determine, order, and maintain cost effective spares inventory.
  • Investigate equipment failures and malfunctions. Communicate with technical experts to resolve intermittent malfunction or failure of equipment or systems.
  • Installation, testing, and qualification of new equipment, wiring, cabling, lines, hoses, conduit, etc.
  • Relocate, reinstall, and requalify equipment, wiring, cabling, lines, hoses, conduit, etc.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance logs and equipment manuals.
  • Document all testing of equipment and electronic systems.
  • Strict adherence to all safety procedures.
  • Job Specifications (Work Experience, Skills, Abilities, etc.):
    • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing and or warehousing environment.
    • Experience with preventive maintenance and repair of forklifts, motorized pallet jacks, industrial batteries and charging equipment, hoists, dock equipment, scales, motorized conveyors, and welding desired.
    • Confidence in self and others. Inspires, motivates, and empowers others to perform well.
    • Effectively influences actions and opinions of others, openly accepts and evaluates feedback, recognizes and acknowledges people who make good results happen.
    • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
    • Strategic thinking and continuous improvement in both operational and non-operational areas, including connecting the cross-functional resources to remove waste along the extended value streams.
    • Value-stream mapping – seeing, documenting, analyzing, communicating, optimizing, and improving value streams.
    • Time Management — Managing one's own time and the time of others.
    • Complex Problem Solving — Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
    • Knowledge of warehouse management software, databases, and MS Office
    • Ability to input, retrieve, and mine data, and turn it into actionable information.
