Overview
Position:
Warehouse Equipment Operator (1st Shift) 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM • $17 per hour. This role supports Scholastic Reading Events, managing shipping dock operations and inventory movements to build book fairs and deliver the company mission of encouraging literacy.

- Operate power equipment at Level I, manage inventory movements, perform cycle counts, and conduct daily equipment inspections.
- Ensure accurate, safe, and efficient handling of products; maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area per operational standards.
- Meet or exceed production, accuracy, and quality standards; follow all safety policies, processes, and procedures.
- Support temporary projects related to other position descriptions as part of individual or team development.
- Record task details accurately and completely; plan and prioritize work to manage time effectively.
- Demonstrate proficient use of tools and technology required to complete work functions according to standard processes.
- Maintain professional and positive relationships with co-workers and customers; comply with drug- and alcohol-free policy.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Must be trained and licensed to operate power equipment.
- Minimum 1 year of power equipment operation experience for non-internal promotions.
- Forklift training program completion required.
- Ability to demonstrate basic product scanner proficiency with minimal errors.
- Strong teamwork, good verbal/written communication, basic math, and ability to read English safety rules and procedures.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, standing, reaching, squatting, bending, kneeling, and operating in non-air-conditioned environments. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain certification to operate assigned powered industrial equipment, and pass required drug screenings. PPE must be worn as required. Visual and depth-perception abilities are necessary for the role.
