Senior Staff Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join a healthcare organization in Arlington, Virginia in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who can manage core accounting operations with accuracy, maintain strong financial controls, and support timely reporting in a fast-paced environment. The role requires a hands-on contributor who is comfortable working on site five days each week and bringing broad experience across day-to-day and period-end accounting activities.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring invoices are reviewed, coded, processed, and recorded accurately and on schedule.
• Manage accounts receivable activity, including tracking incoming payments, applying cash, and following up on outstanding balances as needed.
• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records and support compliance with accounting standards.
• Reconcile bank accounts and investigate variances to ensure transactions are properly reflected in the general ledger.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes by completing assigned schedules, resolving discrepancies, and meeting reporting deadlines.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy through routine account analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and correction of posting issues.
• Use Excel and Accumatica to organize financial data, generate reports, and improve visibility into accounting activity.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to provide dependable accounting support and help sustain efficient day-to-day financial operations.
