Our client is a diversified holding company with operations across education, media, healthcare, manufacturing, automotive retail, and other industries. Our Client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Corporate Office accounting and financial reporting team. This role sits at the center of the company's consolidation and external reporting cycle, working directly with finance leadership at a diversified portfolio of business units.
The position offers broad exposure across SEC reporting, internal management reporting, and financial analysis, along with meaningful involvement in infrastructure and financial transformation projects. It is well suited to a CPA with public accounting experience who wants to build a corporate accounting career at a publicly traded company with an unusually varied set of operating businesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Communicating regularly with finance and accounting professionals at the company's business units
- Work closely with other Corporate Office departments, including tax, treasury, human resources, and risk management
- Work closely with internal and external auditors
- Assist with the monthly company-wide consolidation of the company
- Assist with the preparation of internal financial reporting for Board of Directors, senior management, and business units
- Assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements and accompanying footnotes on Form 10-Q and 10-K for filing with the SEC, including XBRL requirements
- Assist with the preparation of the quarterly earnings release
- Assist with review of various presentations to Board of Directors, senior management, external parties, and shareholders
- Assist with preparation of business unit financial reports for senior management
- Assist with analysis of business unit financial performance, provide explanations for variances, and performing desk reviews of account reconciliations
- Assist with special, infrastructure development, and financial transformation initiatives
- Preparation of census reports for submission to various federal agencies
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Active CPA
- Minimum of 2+ years of progressive financial and accounting related work experience
- Sound knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Strong Excel and other Microsoft Office skills
- Detail-oriented, with strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently within a team environment, meet recurring deadlines, and manage multiple concurrent priorities
- Experience with a Big Four accounting firm preferred
- Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools (Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, or similar) preferred
- Experience using large language models (LLMs) to support analysis, reporting, and process efficiency in a business or finance setting preferred
