Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) has an opening for a full-time (40 hrs/wk) Development Coordinator. The position is responsible for the processing and acknowledgment of all contributions received in-house, through the bank lock box and online. Ideal candidate will have HS diploma/GED, 2+ years working in an office environment, experience in Microsoft Office, strong organizational and administrative skills, ability to work independently, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONThis position is located at NMCRS HQ in Arlington, VA with minimal telework days. Under the general supervision of the Vice President, Chief Development and Communications Officer (CDCO), and direct supervision of the Director, Development, the Development Coordinator is responsible for the processing and acknowledgment of all contributions received in-house, through the bank lock box, and online, and for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of donor records.
Also serves as customer service contact for donors.
- Deposits contributions received in-house through the remote bank scanner and online application or through direct deposit at the bank. Prepares daily tracking and deposit reports for Development and Accounting. Coordinates with these teams to address questions or discrepancies relating to donations.
- Records all donations received by NMCRS by accurately entering in customer relationship management system (CRM) new or updating existing records with gift amounts, contact information, and assigning appropriate accounts, campaigns, funds, or appeals.
- Prepares appropriate tax receipts and donor acknowledgment letters, and coordinates leadership signatures as necessary. Drafts customized letters, as necessary, to accurately acknowledge donor’s intent. Identifies all donations equal to or greater than $5,000 and prepares personal letter for the President, CEO’s signature.
- Identifies matching gifts and workplace giving donations (accessing various secure websites) and makes soft-credit entry in donor’s record in CRM.
- Identifies all donations in memory/honor of and makes appropriate entries in donors’ record in CRM. Prepares acknowledgement and notification letters.
- Using CRM, processes one-time and recurring credit card donations received over the phone or by mail.
- Coordinates with NMCRS mail room for timely mailing of tax receipts and acknowledgement letters.
- Ensures all batches and other cash receipts are properly filed, in digital or hard copy form.
- Updates CRM donor records upon identifying those needing revision/correcting/updating and/or merging. Revises acknowledgement letter templates as needed.
- Assists with development and documentation of Development policies and procedures.
- Performs all other position-related duties and responsibilities, as directed.
- Adheres to all established NMCRS policies and procedures.
High school diploma/GED required.
Experience Required- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Familiarity with donor management software
- Knowledge of the Navy and Marine Corps organizations and rank structure
- Extended periods of sitting and repetitive motion activities may be required
- Ability to exercise tact and professionalism when interacting with donors, outside organizations, field offices, staff and difficult people or situations
- Ability to perform independently and as part of a team
- Ability to identify problems and follow through to resolution
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments
- Ability to pay close attention to details, and to edit and proof own work
