Event Manager / Planner
Position Title: Market Assistant 1 - Contractor
Location: Cherrydale, Fairlington, Lubber Run, Westover Farmers Markets
Rate: $21/hour
General PurposeThe Market Assistant 1 is responsible for assisting in the operation of weekly farmers markets. This role requires the ability to work effectively as part of a team under the leadership of the Market Manager. The position involves moderately stressful and demanding conditions and is designated as a contractor, reflecting the limited liability and risk associated with the role.
Essential Functions- Assist with onsite market setup, management, and teardown on market days.
- Greet customers and ensure adherence to market rules.
- Assist in implementing surveys and other data collection methods to address questions from FTT Board Members regarding vendors, market participants, and competitive analysis.
- Assist with special events planning and execution, including preparation for events.
- Perform special tasks as assigned by the FTT Executive Director or Market Manager.
- Accountability/Dependability/Reliability - Takes responsibility for actions, ensures quality and timeliness of work, and completes tasks despite setbacks.
- Communications - Communicates verbally in a clear, concise, and effective manner. Represents the organization professionally and positively.

- Timesheets - Accurately account for time worked and submit timesheets on a timely basis.
Job Requirements
- Education - High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience - 0 to 3 years of general work experience.
- Supervised Positions - Not applicable.
This position requires moderate physical activity, including the ability to lift and transport 25 lbs. during market set‑up and tear‑down, and involves exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
