OverviewNext 150 Construction is seeking a Construction Superintendent II. The Construction Superintendent II supports project field operations by assisting with the coordination of assigned trade contractors and field activities, ensuring work is performed in accordance with approved scope, safety requirements, quality standards, and schedule expectations. This role operates with limited supervision and supports daily planning, documentation, and execution activities.
Responsibilities- Assist with safety enforcement and quality control inspections, and field coordination, working closely with senior field leadership to support efficient, compliant, and well‑organized jobsite operations.
- Coordinate assigned trade contractors and field activities to support adherence to approved schedules, budgets, and work plans.
- Review and work in strict accordance with contract documents, drawings, and specifications for assigned scopes.
- Remain informed of all assigned field activities and monitor work in progress to ensure compliance with approved work plans; maintain accurate daily field reports, safety documentation, and records using required construction management and safety operations systems.
- Support all field safety efforts; assist with safety orientations; conduct safety observations and audits; enforce safety and quality control policies within assigned scopes and escalating concerns to senior field leadership.
- Attend and participate in project meetings as required to support coordination and communication.
- Track production, labor hours, and productivity metrics for assigned scopes and report variances.
- Support self‑performance operations, workforce planning, and quantification of labor, materials, and equipment needs for assigned scopes.
- Assist with forecasting labor and material needs and support cost‑of‑work tracking as required; support material procurement, delivery coordination, and site logistics activities.
- Establish and maintain credibility with owners, trade contractors, unions, and field personnel through professional, fair, and consistent conduct.
- Assist with onboarding and training activities.
- Manage daily reporting, documentation, and cost tracking in finance and construction management software.
- Assist in resolving jurisdictional disputes and field‑level issues within assigned scopes.
- Implement and support sustainability and environmental compliance initiatives within assigned scopes.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
- 3+ years of experience leading crews of 20‑25+ craft in a superintendent capacity, 5‑8 years construction experience.
- Superintendent experience on projects of total value $20 million – $50 million+.
- Ability to travel locally around the DMV area if needed.
- OSHA 30‑hour certified or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong technical and communication skills.
- Strong labor relations with union and non‑union engagement.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, safety and site operations software, and construction management software.
- Knowledge of construction documenting and drawing, with knowledge of all phases of construction.
- Knowledge in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, cost control and forecasting.
- Ability to create a safety‑first environment by showing a commitment to zero injury principles and sustainability practices.
Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team. For Chicago, IL this ranges from $85,000.00 – $ plus benefits and a retirement program.
