Job SummaryConstruction Engineer – Berryville, VA (Full‑time, Salaried). Pay: $60K–$75K/year (based on experience). Travel: open to travel throughout VA, DC, MD. This safety‑sensitive position requires on‑site work and compliance with federal contractor policies, including drug testing.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain detailed 3‑week crew schedules in coordination with Field Supervision, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and owners’ design engineers.
- Submit work plans to the Project Manager and monitor progress in the field.
- Accurately update CPM schedules, weekly crew schedules and provide progress data to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate material orders, invoices, and coding in OnBase and Heavy Job; review timecards and cost codes.
- Assist the Project Manager with administrative tasks such as shop drawing approval, RFIs, submittal log maintenance, and document control.
- Interpret complex construction plans to ensure compliance with design instructions, safety, and environmental plans.
- Monitor field production rates and verify that bid productions are met.
- Analyze and resolve field construction problems, disparities, and plan errors.
- Provide daily quantity reports for contract items and assist in monthly pay estimate reconciliation.
- Maintain utility matrix updates and factory‑controlled documents.
- Perform QA/QC testing functions such as pile load tests, soil nail verification, tie‑back testing, and lock‑off.
- Zero to three (0–4) years of experience in geotechnical engineering and construction, including testing, inspection, scheduling, quantity reporting, material purchasing, construction specifications, equipment knowledge, drawings, and subcontractor coordination.
- Prefer experience in geotechnical engineering and foundations.
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering with emphasis on Heavy Structural, Civil Roadway, and Geotechnical Foundations.
- Proficient with Word, Excel, Heavy Job, Heavy Bid, Viewpoint, OnBase, and CAD.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English.
- Lifting up to 30 pounds from ground to waist level.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb ladders, stand, and walk outdoors.
- Fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Corrected vision and hearing required.
Open to travel throughout VA, DC, MD.
