About the RoleAs a Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing assigned projects alongside the Project Manager, taking ownership of field operations, site safety, scheduling, productivity, site logistics, and quality control.
You will play a key role from preconstruction and project start-up through completion, managing subcontractors and field teams while ensuring the project is delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Include:- Participating in the preconstruction and project start-up process, including baseline schedules and site utilization plans
- Managing and coordinating all subcontractor scopes to ensure quality and timely delivery
- Leading weekly foreman meetings and resolving day-to-day field issues
- Managing company labor, including laborers and carpenters, as well as Assistant/Area Superintendents and Project Engineers
- Communicating and enforcing company safety policies and applicable OSHA standards
- Maintaining job-site housekeeping, cleanliness, and overall site organisation
- Establishing and enforcing quality standards with subcontractors and vendors
- Creating and managing project schedules, look-ahead schedules, and monthly schedule updates
- Coordinating with utility providers, city officials, and local jurisdictions
- Preparing accurate daily reports with progress photographs and labor totals
- Reviewing shop drawings and coordinating work in place
- Preparing in-situ mock-ups and drafting RFIs when conflicts arise
- Managing all site logistics, materials, deliveries, and site access
- Coordinating material tracking with Project Managers, subcontractors, and vendors
- Scheduling and participating in material testing, code compliance, and quality control inspections
- Identifying non-compliant work and taking the lead on required corrective actions
- 10+ years of construction industry experience
- Previous experience as a Superintendent with a General Contractor
- Strong commercial construction experience; multifamily experience is also welcomed
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, field teams, schedules, and site operations
- OSHA 30 certification required
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification required
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, safety, quality control, and site logistics
- Experience with Primavera P6 or MS Project preferred
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and email
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills
- Action-oriented leader who can take ownership and make decisions in the field
- Ability to build positive relationships with subcontractors, clients, design consultants, and internal teams
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
