7 News in Washington, DC has an immediate opening for a dayside show producer. This 90 minute newscast features newsmaker interviews and has room for long form content as well as breaking news and continuing coverage and context of ongoing issues in the market. We're looking for a creative show runner who's news‑engaged and comfortable with high expectations in a shop where producers are editorial leaders tasked with building compelling, distinctive, viewer‑focused shows.
The candidate will:
- Be a multi‑platform news consumer well versed in major storylines of the day.
- Have solid news judgment.
- Communicate clearly with colleagues and talent on the set.
- Manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Respond positively to feedback and make adjustments as required.
- Quickly respond to breaking news and late updates.
- Be able to troubleshoot effectively and calmly in the booth.
- Thrive in a collaborative environment and bring a positive attitude to the team.
- Understand that news is a 24‑7 business and may require nights, weekends and holidays.
- Minimum 3 years news producing experience at a commercial TV station.
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or a similar field preferred.
- Familiarity with Saga/Mimir, Xpression, Tagboard, and Premiere is a plus.
The hourly compensation range for this role is $28.85–$36.06. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
