Overview

Arlington County's Public Library is seeking an innovative and experienced Archival Supervisor to manage the Charlie Clark Center for Local History (CCCLH). CCCLH collects, preserves, and shares resources that illustrate Arlington County's history, diversity, and communities.

Location:

1015 N Quincy St, Arlington, VA 22201, USA. Full‑time, 40 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend work. Salary: $93,496.00 – $ annually. Benefits:

Preferred; provisional CA acceptable with exam within one year.

Responsibilities
  • Direct unit strategy and implement services, programs, events, outreach, and collaborative partnerships.
  • Provide mentorship, leadership, and management to professional staff, including development, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Lead archival collection development through acquisition, processing, and preservation of physical and digital materials.
  • Develop and implement unit policies, procedures, and tools to improve processing, discovery, and access to content.
  • Maintain community contacts, including internal and external partners and donors.
  • Collect data, prepare reports, and manage a unit budget.
  • Provide in‑depth research, reference, and other services to patrons.
  • Coordinate and participate in Library and County committees or work groups to further the Library's mission.
  • Participate in training to maintain professional knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA‑accredited institution or a related discipline with formal archival training; significant experience in archival or special collections work.
  • Desirable: Experience coordinating exhibits, events, and outreach; leading change efforts and team management; leveraging technology to develop services for culturally diverse populations; cross‑departmental or inter‑agency collaboration; direct supervision and evaluation of staff performance.
