SENIOR EDITOR SAMHSA: TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND TRAINING PROJECTS
The Senior Editor has a strong background in developing and adapting training materials to support the SAMHSA Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Project. The Senior Editor will support the development of core training materials for diverse audiences to ensure high-quality provision of TTA to SAMHSA recipients.
Responsibilities- Support the development or adaptation of TA and/or training including innovations in TA and/or training delivery to best optimize its provision.
- Support the development or adaptation of TA and/or training materials for a diverse audience and on an array of mental and/or substance abuse topics – including in-person, online, web-based tutorials and/or TA/training courses.
- Translate science, research-based, and practice-based knowledge into user-friendly applications that support building organizational capacity and developing workforce skills needed by targeted audiences to do effective work to address behavioral health issues and other priorities.
- Support the development of in-person, online, and web-based tutorials.
- Edit comprehensive resource documents to include but are not limited to in-depth literature searches on key topical areas identified – comprehensive resources may focus on practical knowledge pertaining to selected effective intervention strategies, implementation guidance, and appropriate evaluation approaches.
- Prepare documentation for the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) clearance.
- Maintain, update, promote, and develop/enhance web-ready content to diffuse knowledge, resources, tools, toolkits, and online learning courses to the target audience and the broader field – content should be web-ready to be uploaded to the website.
- Familiarity with the work of SMAHSA, substance use/prevention, behavioral health, and mental health.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Sustained concentration and attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload and deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional writing skills.
- BA degree preferred in the field of English, communications, journalism, or related field.
- 4 years’ experience in developing and adapting training materials, preferably in the field of psychology, counseling, or social work.
- Fully bilingual in Spanish preferred.
