About You

You are a senior level cybersecurity engineer with a proven ability to design, secure, and evaluate complex network architectures in high assurance, classified environments. You bring a strong blend of strategic thinking and hands on expertise in cybersecurity architecture, network security engineering, and robust security testing, ensuring solutions meet stringent security and performance requirements.

You collaborate effectively with government and industry stakeholders, communicate complex technical concepts with clarity, and contribute across the full lifecycle - from design and implementation to evaluation and validation. Driven by mission impact, you thrive in sensitive environments and are motivated to support transformational network engineering initiatives within VT-ARC’s Engineering Test and Evaluation Division.

Position Overview

VT-ARC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to support the design and implementation of a transformational network engineering program. This role is responsible for developing comprehensive cybersecurity strategies for advanced network designs and conducting rigorous security testing to validate secure, resilient performance upon implementation.

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will ensure all network components comply with stringent security standards and will work closely with government and industry partners to provide technical oversight throughout network security design, implementation, and testing activities. This position reports to the program’s Principal Architect within VT-ARC’s Engineering Test and Evaluation Division (ETED).

An active Top Secret/SCI clearance is required

This position is contingent based upon contract award

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Develop cybersecurity approaches and strategies aligned with network architecture and design.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Architect and other technical leads to integrate security into all phases of network development.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and compliance audits on implemented network systems.
  • Ensure adherence to DoD cybersecurity standards, STIGs, and NIST frameworks.
  • Create and maintain security documentation, including risk assessments and mitigation plans.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve security issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance on emerging cybersecurity threats and best practices.
  • Work closely with the onsite government and contractor technical team to develop cybersecurity capabilities that support end-to-end network and end user communication requirements
Required Education, Certifications, Skills and Capabilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering roles.
  • Strong knowledge of network security principles, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and encryption technologies.
  • Experience conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as NIST, STIGs, and RMF.
  • Hands-on experience with security tools and platforms (SIEM, endpoint protection, etc.).
  • Relevant certifications (CISSP, CEH, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working with Federal agencies on critical networks and communications services
  • Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills
