Senior Engineering Manager (New Product Development/Design to Value)

We are looking for an experienced leader to manage the technical planning, development, and project execution of new products (NPD) and design-to-value (DTV). You will lead the technical scoping of new products, translate the voice of the customer into technical requirements, develop concepts, assess product performance, and release designs for refrigerated food display cases and glass doors. You will collaborate with Sales, Product Management, Sourcing, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure projects launch on schedule and meet financial targets.
Responsibilities- Develop long‑term strategy and project plans for NPD of commercial refrigerator food displays and walk‑in products, and cost‑reduction activities for existing products (DTV).
- Support Product Management in the NPD/DTV roadmap.
- Evaluate cost, benefits, and resources for NPD/DTV projects.
- Ensure compliance with NPD Stage Gate engineering requirements, including concepts, IP protection, mockups, prototypes, pilot builds, design verification plans (DVP&R), DFMEA, modeling, thermal simulation, testing, CAD models, drawings, BOM, and agency certifications (UL, NSF, DOE, NOM, CSA, DLC, IEC).
- Lead the DTV process: brainstorm productivity projects, track savings timing and volume, and report monthly progress against the Annual Operating Plan.
- Collaborate across Dover India Innovation Center, Sourcing, Inside Sales, Engineering, Field Technicians, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production on cross‑functional projects.
- Introduce policies and initiatives that improve overall business performance.
- Develop the engineering team to achieve NPD/DTV goals.
- Maintain CAD (Solid Works), PLM, PDM (Enovia), and BOM processes across the engineering organization.
- Prepare detailed plans, review the integration of technical activities, verify technical accuracy, approve design changes, and ensure robust product design.
- Assess manufacturing process capability, define critical design parameters, drive cross‑regional transformation activities, and apply design of experiments, component variation analysis, reliability testing, and OpEx tools.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline; advanced degree in engineering or business management preferred.
- 10+ years of experience designing commercial or industrial HVAC, refrigeration, or dehumidifier systems, with at least 5 years of engineering leadership or project management experience.
- 5+ years of managing an engineering team and designers in a manufacturing environment.
- MBA or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Design for Value training or certification (Value Methodology Associate).
- 8+ years of engineering experience in refrigeration, air conditioning, or thermal management.
- Knowledge of supermarket refrigeration systems and commercial display products.
- Proficiency with refrigeration testing and analysis tools.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Strong leadership history, including experience leading international engineering project teams.
- Proven ability to transform engineering systems (CAD, PLM, PDM).
- Excellent project management oversight and financial acumen.
- Skilled at resolving team conflicts and fostering collaboration.
- In‑depth mechanical or thermal domain expertise, with preference for refrigerated display case experience.
- Track record of delivering NPDs or large VAVE projects from concept to launch.
- Experience executing projects through stage‑gate processes and PLM systems.
- Strong written, verbal, and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions.
- Action‑oriented, ethical, customer‑focused, and capable of managing competing priorities in fast‑paced environments.
