Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We develop reusable, safe, and low‑cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin’s mission to create safe human spaceflight.

As part of a small, hardworking, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will design, analyze, develop, test, and qualify advanced concept vehicles. Your work will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities
  • General loads and dynamic environment development for spacecraft and related ground systems
  • Conduct detailed vibration and acoustic analyses using Wave6, focusing on full vehicle models to simulate real‑world impacts.
  • Prepare detailed reports and present findings to stakeholders, contributing to strategic decisions on vehicle design and safety enhancements.
  • Develop, solve, execute, and validate common loads and vibration analysis approaches such as finite element analysis, acoustic boundary element models, and statistical energy analysis.
  • Define and develop forcing functions (DAF, TBL, OASPL, and transient loads) for use in structural loads and response analyses.
  • Model, simulate, and verify all segments of spacecraft operations, including launch, on‑orbit, docking, and landing events.
  • Shock and vibration environment predictions and qualification test support.
  • Support configuration development and trade studies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience forecasting and authenticating structural dynamics and loads for flight vehicles.
  • Proficiency in vibroacoustic analysis methods (FE, BEM, SEA) using Wave
    6.
  • Strong theoretical foundation in static and dynamic structural analysis.
  • Proficiency in addressing static and dynamic structural challenges using analytical methodologies, hand calculations, proprietary tools, and commercial software.
  • Proficiency in creating, manipulating, and implementing finite element models.
  • Practical experience in specifying loads and dynamic environments for design applications.
  • Experience with software such as Nastran, Matlab, Femap, Hyperworks, or equivalent FEM pre‑/post‑processing tools.
  • Skilled in generating Matlab or Python scripts for engineering applications.
  • Demonstrated passion for the development of flight vehicle structures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and verifying shock environments (SRS characterization, pyroshock, and mechanical shock predictions).
  • Experience developing and integrating reduced‑order finite element models (e.g., Craig‑Bampton).
  • Proficiency in conducting transient simulations with reduced‑order finite element models.
  • Proven track record in innovative analysis techniques.
  • In‑depth experience with spacecraft, launch vehicles, or aerospace systems.
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short‑ and long‑term disability, 401(k) with company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
  • Paid Time Off: up to four weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company‑paid holidays.
  • Eligibility for bonuses and other incentives based on performance and company discretion.
