Ship Integration Engineer – Battleship (BBGx) Program
Strategic Division's Regional Strike System Group (RSSG) at SPA is hiring a ship integration engineer to support the development of the Battleship (BBGx) Program, specifically the integration of the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) and Sea Launched Cruise Missile Nuclear (SLCM‑N) weapon systems into the ship design.
At SPA, we provide a competitive total compensation package: base pay range of $165,000 - $205,000 (Washington D.C. Pay Transparency) plus variable compensation and a range of benefits including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, HSA, retirement plans, life and insurance programs, and paid/unpaid time off.
Responsibilities- Prepare for and conduct design and technical reviews.
- Interface with Government and other task stakeholders to identify, document, and evaluate design alternatives and functional allocation of performance requirements.
- Ensure high-level requirements, objectives, goals, and mission-use cases are incorporated into the shipboard systems design and low‑level requirements development.
- Review and assess multiple design approaches while addressing overall program risk, cost, and schedule constraints.
- Recommend solutions to resolve technical challenges that may arise due to dynamic changes in characteristics, approach, criteria, and requirements.
- Ensure compatibility of hardware and software development and deployment with external stakeholders.
- Conduct liaison between program leadership and shipboard systems branch technical performer organizations to ensure accurate and consistent communication.
- Mentor junior engineers on Systems Engineering and Major Capability Acquisition life cycles.
- Ability to work at Maritime Plaza in Washington D.C.
- Active DoD Secret or Top‑Secret clearance, maintaining it throughout employment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an accredited engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in aerospace/defense systems engineering, missile systems, or Navy ship/submarine programs.
- Specific work experience in the design, development, and integration of weapons systems.
- Effective communication skills with peers and senior personnel; strong oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of weapons systems integration aboard U.S. Navy ships/submarines.
- Knowledge of Nuclear Weapons Surety.
- Experience with Navy Strategic Weapons Facility production and operations.
