IT Specialist; Cybersecurity

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical authority for cybersecurity architecture and engineering across complex networks and critical Industrial Control Systems/Operational Technology (ICS/OT).
• Lead implementation of Zero Trust principles to enable mission resilience.
• Chair/represent Security Engineering in Risk Governance; lead security engineering design strategies, control inheritance/reuse, and continuous monitoring programs.
• Set enterprise security architecture standards; approve security requirements in procurement packages and evaluate complex, multi-vendor solutions.
• Lead COOP/DR requirements definition and implementation strategies for critical systems; advise senior leadership on posture changes.

To qualify for this position, applicants must provide evidence of the following:

• Specialized
  
  Experience:
  
  One year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the competencies to perform the duties above. This includes serving as a senior technical authority for cybersecurity architecture and engineering, leading implementation of Zero Trust principles, and developing and overseeing security architecture requirements.
• Experience:
  
  credit is given for volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other professional or community organizations.
• Education:
  
  Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Tour of Duty:
  Set Schedule.
• Security clearance: required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with access to SCI and SAPs, subject to background checks.
• Appointment subject to a favorable suitability or fitness determination; adverse background checks may result in removal.
• Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA):
  Exempt.
• Selective Service Requirement:
  Males born after 12‑31‑59 must register or be exempt.
