Requirements

  • We require a Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Computer, or Telecommunications Engineering with 12–15 years of relevant commercial wireless experience, or a masters degree with 10–13 years of equivalent experience.
  • An advanced degree such as an M.S. or Ph.D. in a related discipline is preferred.
  • We value familiarity with 3

    GPP, ITU, the O-RAN Alliance, or similar industry consortiums.
  • Experience supporting DoD, DoW, or research, development, and acquisition initiatives is preferred.
  • You need deep expertise in 5G network architecture, Open RAN, and emerging 6G research areas such as ISAC.
  • You should have a strong grasp of RF engineering, spectrum management, and tactical radio integration.
  • You must understand telecommunications cybersecurity, anti-jam methods, and LPx operations.
  • You need applied knowledge of AI/ML in telecommunications and network automation.
  • Familiarity with open-source networking and software‑defined architecture is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • You should be able to influence others and introduce new ideas, practices, and approaches.
  • We expect strong technical judgment across multiple programs, along with creative, resourceful thinking.
  • You must be flexible and able to manage several priorities at once.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • You should have at least 10 years of demonstrated experience in the commercial wireless industry.

  • We serve as the primary technical authority on 5G, 6G, and commercial wireless communications.
  • We provide strategic guidance, oversight, and subject matter expertise for FutureG research efforts.
  • We assess emerging telecommunications technologies, architectures, standards, and market trends to support research and investment decisions.
  • We connect commercial wireless innovations with mission-focused research goals to speed the adoption of next‑generation communications capabilities.
  • We solve highly complex technical problems through deep analysis, reasoning, and interpretation.
  • We advise on telecommunications planning and international policy matters.
  • We evaluate the impact of proposed telecommunications technologies on existing systems.
  • We guide and oversee FutureG research and development programs.
  • We develop and evaluate advanced cybersecurity approaches for 5G/6G architectures, including Zero Trust concepts.
  • We strengthen network resilience in contested environments using anti‑jam techniques and LPx waveforms.
  • We evaluate and integrate Open RAN standards and open‑source telecommunications software.
  • We lead research into network slicing and multi‑access edge computing to support agile, decentralized deployments.
  • We drive efforts to converge commercial 5G/6G technologies with current and future tactical radios.
  • We ensure interoperability between commercial standards and military communications systems.
  • We guide research into Integrated Sensing and Communication within emerging 6G paradigms.
  • We analyze how AI/ML can improve spectrum management, self‑healing networks, and predictive maintenance.
  • We translate complex technical findings into briefings, reports, and strategic recommendations for senior leaders, stakeholders, and engineering teams.
  • We create innovative solutions through research and by applying best practices.
Company

We offer a permanent Senior Telecommunications Engineer 5G/6G SME role based in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, working in person and reporting to the Project Lead while supervising telecommunications engineering team members. This position focuses on FutureG research and the advancement of next‑generation commercial and military communications. The compensation range is $145,000 to $175,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and security clearance status.
