PositionSummary
We are seeking a talented licensed Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) with leadership capability to lead our Fire Protection (FP) Department and support the function enterprise‑wide from select office locations.
Responsibilities- Serve as lead FP engineer and technical expert with the ability to answer questions and resolve issues for engineering staff.
- Participate in the design of fire protection systems and coordinate with other disciplines on projects—performing calculations and attending review meetings.
- Create detailed plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by.
- Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects.
- Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by staff.
- Communicate and collaborate with other department managers across all office locations.
- Prepare and deliver various internal and external engineering‑related presentations.
- Perform department leader activities including hiring, coaching and training of staff.
- 7+ years professional experience in fire protection engineering/design.
- PE/FPE license required - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering required.
- Advanced working knowledge of building codes, fire codes, NFPA standards, and FM Global data sheets.
- Proficient in standard engineering procedures with proven critical thinking ability, working analytically in a quantitative problem‑solving environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self‑motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive as part of a team.
- Team supervisory experience.
- Proficient relevant software skills including Revit, Bluebeam, BIM and MS Office.
- Skilled technical writer.
