Job DescriptionThe Resident Engineer will engage in complex construction projects, applying standard construction techniques and engineering principles to complete a series of related tasks. The role requires independent judgment in selecting and applying engineering and construction techniques, exercising engineering judgement to adapt designs, evaluating and interpreting project requirements, and collaborating with project personnel.
Responsibilities- Analyze engineering concepts of a project using knowledge obtained in an engineering or construction management degree.
- Oversee construction personnel to ensure procedures, methods, and materials meet contract specifications; direct Superintendents, Project Managers, and foremen to comply throughout the project.
- Ensure that technical components meet the engineering requirements of the contract documents.
- Perform engineering calculations for pump performance, concrete mechanics, pipeline hydraulics, and electrical adequacy.
- Prepare cash‑flow calculations from a critical‑path schedule to help the owner budget total project cost and monitor contractor progress and scheduled completion.
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in science, math, architecture, computing, technical drafting, or related curriculum plus 4+ years of qualifying engineering experience.
- Ability to make decisions that affect cost and performance of the work.
- Advanced degree (preferred).
- Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred).
- Experience with municipal and state agencies (preferred).
- CCM, USACE CQM, CCCA, or NICET certifications (preferred).
Salary range: $72,000 – $126,000 per year, depending on location, skills, experience, education, and equity. The role may also qualify for bonus or overtime. Comprehensive benefits include health, dental, vision, professional development, and work‑life balance support.
