Job DescriptionThis role focuses on emerging research in advanced materials, precision manufacturing, microfabrication, packaging technologies, and device integration that enable highly engineered systems to transition from laboratory concepts into scalable, real‑world applications.
The successful candidate will assess innovative technologies, identify technical risks and opportunities, engage with leading researchers across academia and industry, and provide strategic technical guidance across multidisciplinary research efforts. Candidates should possess a strong technical foundation and the ability to evaluate complex technologies spanning materials science, physics, microsystems, semiconductor processes, and advanced device engineering.
Salary Range150,000 – 220,000
Required Skills- Masters or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of experience conducting advanced research or developing technologies in one or more relevant technical fields.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Demonstrated expertise in several of the following areas:
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to evaluate multidisciplinary technical efforts.
- Demonstrated record of technical leadership through research, publications, patents, technology development, or program execution.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Active Secret security clearance preferred; exceptional candidates who are eligible to obtain a clearance will also be considered.
- Experience transitioning research into practical or manufacturable technologies.
- Knowledge of microsystem packaging, advanced manufacturing, or semiconductor process integration.
- Experience with reliability engineering, environmental testing, or product qualification.
- Familiarity with emerging quantum, photonic, sensing, or precision measurement technologies.
- Experience collaborating with universities, national laboratories, federally funded research organizations, or commercial R&D organizations.
